June 13 – Pemaquid Point

It was a nice day today. Sunny in the morning then a bit hazy in the afternoon but no rain. We spent most of the day near Pemaquid Point Lighthouse. We try to go to the lighthouses because they are usually at interesting places. Today was no exception. We spent about 15 minutes at the actual lighthouse and about 3 hours just scrambling around the rocks and watching the surf.

On the way there we saw this in the middle of a field and figured that Doctor Who missed a turn somewhere.

Arriving at the point it was the first time we had to pay to enter, $2 a person.

There were a lot of artists on the grounds because of the nice weather.

Up we go.

We didn’t stay long up there. It was very hot and the glass was not that clean for pictures. Back down through the hole is the worst part for Jennie.

We walked out to the very end of the long, rocky point.

The view back along the shore was amazing.

Jennie explored all the nooks and crannies.

We went to the very end and watched the waves crash for quite a while.

We only got splashed a few time.

We had to be careful as the tide was coming in and this section at the very tip was about to get cut off. We left with about 15 minutes to spare.

Later, just before we left the area, it looked like this. Jennie was standing where the seagull is, below.

We retreated a bit and planted ourselves on top of this rock for our lunch.

After sitting for so long it was getting a bit cool so it was time to move on. Back up we go.

There were lots of strange shapes in the rocks. We thought this one looked like a snake head.

We drove back to “our” peninsula and then went out to the end. We explored some of the small roads that skirted the edges.

Two more lighthouses off in the distance.

This house was really interesting.

By now it was about 4 so we headed home.

Home made lobster rolls for dinner. 3 lobster dinners so far and probably one left from that one package.
